On my 90 S4 the passenger side door blinking diode has stopped working. I swapped the stems from the driver door to the passenger door but it still does not work.
So any write ups for replacing the coil for igniting the diode?
I tried to search for any threads pertaining to this but was unsuccessful.

Anybody knows if this is covered in the WSM? and if so where?

I think it's pretty easy to see it once the door panels have been removed, not such a big job really.

So I replaced the diode coil/igniter in the door.
Take door card off.
Remove the locking stem.
Remove the single screw in the top.
Unhook the electrical connector.
Pull the coil from the lock.
Pull the housing straight up, as there is a push pin under it that keeps it from rattling.
Install a new one in the reverse order. Check proper operation, before you put the door card back.
