1982 928 5 speed
Found a shark I like alot with the 5 speed. Looks like it's in great shape with 70,000 miles and owner wants $12,000 for it. Any reason to avoid an 82 S? Thanks for any advice!! Here's the ad:

No reason to avoid an 82, but for $12K, it better be in incredible shape. Also, make sure to verify that it is a Euro because there were no US 82S's. If it is a Euro, that is a much more sought after car.
For $12K, make sure you get a PPI. Not too many 82's getting that kind of money.

If it is a Euro S in perfect shape then maybe it is worth the 12K. It would have to be up to date with maintenance, have perfect paint and interior then you could justify the price. If you pay 2K for one you will be another 10K and a lot of effort into it before it is right.
If it is a US car then half of that would be high. The 80-82 US models are the least desirable model years. There was a low mileage 80 auto here a few weeks back with 25K miles kept up well and it was snapped up at 8K immediately.

Gueedo, there are plenty of us that love our 80-82 cars. Podguy is not amongst us. He is right about the pricing though. That car is beautiful, but that is a lot of money for any of the non-Euro, earlier cars.
EDIT: I would like to add this thought: I believe that generally all of these cars are undervalued (outside of some pristine, later models). I think that in a vacuum, so to speak, that car looks like it's worth every bit of $12K. My remarks about the pricing are based on what I think the market for 928's has been like.

Be sure to get a Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI) before you close the deal.
Shops capable of doing this in the Buffalo area are mentioned in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...errerid=100405
