I was able to find the link below, does anyone know which options the codes refer to? Or a source, thank you.

There's a good list of option codes at 928GT.com, click on 928 Tips/Links, then Tech/Specs, then Option codes.

Another more comprehensive list, but a bit of a PITA to dive down through:

Edit: I found the answer and added.

what do these codes mean on a U.S. 1983 S?

M28.19
> 4.7L 242HP engine

G28.08
> 5 speed transmission

Thanks all!

is there another link to a source that can run a ViN to check the option codes? The above isn't displaying. Thank you very much.

The lex-com source is no longer. It may be possible to rig something up that talks to their new http GET interface, but it'll take some brainpower to work out how to generate the "key" field they now require for each VIN lookup in addition to the VIN - PET7.3 will still look up VIN's, but earlier PET's that used the old interface no longer work either.

92DS840287;WP0ZZZZ;1983;928920;C99/R;M28.11;G28.07;M058M261I395I417M438I454I468M650

edit: a quick think about it and I'm guessing they're using public-key encryption to generate an encoding of the VIN which can be verified by the lex-com server as an authentic PET7.3 request (i.e. decrypt using private key and see if it matches the VIN in the other field).
