Default Headlight Tilt Motor

Per question from Tom in Jersey (SITM)

I looked under my headlights...looks like there is a small electric motor, connected to a short shaft that pushes the light to tilt up, or pulls it to tilt down...mine does not work (yet) so I can not confirm...

Early models had vacuum operated adjustors. Later ones got electric. That does not look remotely like any of the electric ones I have come across.

Do not worry - I have yet to see a set of the vacuum ones that work.

That is a lot of rust. I hope the rest of the car is better off.

Ron,
Nice meeting with you at SITM and thanks for the pics. I just looked at the PET and it does show that the earlier cars have a different system then the later cars. If you're interested PM me your email address and I'll send you a short fix I downloaded for repairing the hydraulic operators. Yup, just checked my notes, the system uses silicon based oil to operate the adjusters! Thanks again.

Thom...

PM sent!

Dan...no, unfortunately the rest of the car is not much better off. I am doing a MAJOR resurrection of this vehicle....she had a very bad life before I found her...I plan on starting a thread once my move is over and the dust settles....
