Should I try and refill it, buy a new one or replace it with an electric one? I live in Florida and if I'm in traffic the temp can get over 3/4 on the gauge even with the ac fan running. Replaced the T- stat, temp sender, aux fan switch and flush. When on the move it's about 1/2 or just over on the gauge.

Toyota parts dept can order the silicone to fill: I think its 10,000 cps.

Can be gotten from hobby supply / used to fill rear ends of R/C cars.

I found the oil at a hobby shop for the fraction of the cost. The issue is if you need to refillo the fan the origona; oil went somewhere.

Mine was immediately slung out. There is a company that will refurbish the fan clutch but i went with the electric fan conversion.

So I found 15,000-50,000 cps, should I go for more then 10,000 cps? I can't see any signs that it leaked out but who knows after 30 years. I guess it's worth a try.

I used the toyota oil. The fan took one and a half bottles. I used a heat gun to get the oil into the clutch. It is important to get the spring on the front on right side. it is temperature sensitive. When you take it off mark the front.

Then again I did not have an over heating problem before so it is difficult to tell how much the refill helped.

10,000 CST oil on the way, I'll give an update Sunday after I refill it. By the way less then $10.00 shipped on eBay, I'll pull the fan tomorrow and start cleaning and painting.

Did you get your booster replaced? The fan job is pretty easy just don't ruin the brass plug it should move freely controlled by the thermo spring.

No it was a vacuum leak as far as I can tell as it stops fine now. Need to order more hose an 90 deg fittings to complete the job. How are you doing we need to plan a GTG soon

I just got the oil in the mail today, so I'll pull the fan assy out tonight and fill it tomorrow.

Refilled and re-installed the fan clutch today and it's working great. I pushed in about 30 ml of 10,000 cst silicone made by Lucas Oil, total cost $10.00 and still have 1 full bottle.

Well the fan clutch lost the oil again and is like a pin wheel in the wind. Who has the best efan setup or should I just buy a SPAL fan and relay kit and put something together myself?

$203+shipping. Made a frame in alloy angle that mounts to the original holes, and allows me to keep the stock top shroud. This size fits well on a 16V, where its hard to handle a 12" dual that will over hang the radiator. Powered left fan from the stock wiring, and fired the rhs fan with a second relay off the hot post from the left fans power.
