Speedometer geists
A "feature" has returned this week as I've been commuting with the OB. As I first turn the car on and start driving, the speedometer needle remains motionless. After about ten minutes, it starts to wake up and woggle a little bit. Finally, it starts to correctly show the speed.
The ODO has never worked, even after gear replacements and numerous efforts to ensure electrical integrity. So, I'm pretty versed at removing the pod and will do so if the solution dictates.
mine was exactly like yours, i have to put my hand from under and to behind and push the dash towards you (tight fit but doable) and will work for a long time until it bouces again, repeat..like that for 3 years
Mine was similar and while not totally fixed it is a lot better since I tightened the electrical connections on the edge connectors for the pod. I used a dental pick to gently lift each contact (both sides) to make them stand proud in the opening of the connector. Before adjustment they seemed to be buried in the grooves in the edge connector plastic.
Before repair my odometer had stopped but I confirmed no gears were damaged (replaced once already) and now it works again. My speedo was like yours except with an apparent drag in the system someplace because even when working it was not responsive. Now the speedo still lags and is slow to respond but day and night different / better than before.
