Hi all,
the shifter boot pops up every now and then when I shift. I can not see that any of the tabs supposed to hold it down are broken, but maybe worn? Maybe the leather has shrunk a little, so when I use the full length og the gear lever, it pops the frame right off the tunnell.
A minor problem, sure, but what's the ideal fix? I would like too keep things original, and be able to remove it for servicing. (so glue, pop-rivets etc are out of the question

The price was well worth eliminating the annoyance. The boot has not popped off since replacement.

I had that problem, too, but it was because the shift rod was loose at the front. Too much movement for the boot to handle.
To test, hold the rod straight up with two hands and force it fore/aft. It should be solid and not slop around.
