Default Rear hatch lock, broken actuator replacement?

Hi guys,

On the pic below, was wondering if #6 shown from a rear hatch upper lock hatch were replaceable individually.

The rest of the assembly is in great shape, it is an alarm unit but factory alarm is disabled.

That actuator # 6 is what broke. Can't unlock the hatch with the key.

Thanks

Sorry to bring back an old thread but was this part replaceable? I have the same issue. What was the solution?

Where exactly is that on a 928 hatch? I seem to be drawing a blank.

its in the upper part of the latch assembly. The key cylinder turns part #6 and the “tongue” pushes on the arm on the white plastic release

Was considering just buying the newer lower hatch release part and vw motor to open from inside if I had to. Much cheaper than to buy a whole new lock assembly and have to rekey.

I swapped mine a couple of years ago, very straightforward once you get the part. Got mine from 928 int.
I wouldn’t rely 100% on the remote release always working when you need it.

did you swap just the actuator (part #6) or the whole lock cylinder assembly? Because I don’t want to swap the whole cylinder and have to use a different key

Just the actuator. Used Dwayne excellent write up to take the mechanism apart, keep the key in the lock so nothing extra falls apart:

I have seen the remote actuator fail because the nylon bush in the link has collapsed. I turned up a brass bush (cos I had the stock) - 5mm bore, 7mm OD, 5mm long; ground off the peened over cap, retained the link end with an M2screw and nylock nut. There is a pic here somewhere...
