Good luck with the hunt - took me 3 years to find mine - if you have a very clear idea what you want - it takes a lot longer... Be ready to travel far & wide and get a PPI by a knowledgable shop or individual is an absolute must. Several near misses for me on cars that looked nice but really weren't...

12 years and 80,000+ miles later, It was well worth the wait...

Why did they do that??? Was it in case they decided to keep the 928 going a few more years and wanted an easy way to "find" HP so folks would buy it???

Herman, you KNOW its true if you read it on the interweb! LOL! Al Gore invented this thing and would NEVER, EVER lie about anything!

That said, obviously they left a TON of power on the table with GTS's or else we would not see the huge disparity between my stock auto GTS's and say Roger's modified auto GTS... Both of my GTS's ('92 and '94) put 28X Hp to the roller and 30X Tq to the roller! I think Jim and Roger are going A LOT MORE than that!!

AFAIK, neither Rog nor Jim did anything HUGE to their engines either... Just different cams, better exhaust and a good sharktune to optimize what the cams and exhaust are doing... If that is NOT the case I hope Jim/Rog will sound off. My impression was they didn't break their engines open to change a bunch of stuff or bore/stroke them...

My heads have never been off. I have GT cams and a 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust with the X-pipe system all from Roger/Motorsport SLC, and shark tuning. It dyno'd at 340HP. It still needs fine tuning with the shark tuner and I think there maybe a few more HP still available.

I've always believed that the factory was planning to turbo charge the 928 if it had stayed in production. I think that's why they changed the rings and pistons and why the cams were so mild. BUT, we'll never know for sure, will we?
