How to pull injectors from the fuel rail? 86.5 928
 

I have removed the metal clips that hold the injectors to the fuel rail and still cannot pull the fuel injectors from the fuel rail. Ive even tried spraying a little WD-40 into the top o-ring joint at the fuel rail, no go. It wiggles around plenty, but wont come out. Ive pulled pretty hard.

The shop manual just says to simply "remove" them, after pulling the clips. Its not that easy. Is there something else??

Also, how to remove the electrical connection from the injector. Is there a special tool?

The connectors can be done with a small screw driver by pushing the wire clip side-ways and gently rocking it back in forth till it comes off.

The injectors are a bit harder if they have healthy o-rings, I found it was much more simple with the whole fuel rail removed from the car, gives you a bit more leverage to tug them out with lots of twisting.

Fuel rails and injectors are already pulled. I've done plenty of pulling and twisting, but don't want to break anything

Worst case you'll tear up the O-rings. You'll want to replace those anyway. Just pull harder.

yep, its just the O rings holding em in place.

Yup, if the clips are out, the only thing holding them there is force of habit. And some gummy O-rings.

Put the rail in a vice and use a claw hammer. I know it sounds rediculious but it will work. I got the tip from one of the writeups on this board. I had to do it with a couple of mine. I don't think they had ever been off the car before.

I think that these are original too. Amazing that I've pulled hard as I have, It's only the old o-rings holding them in, and they havnt come out.

Need to really pull on them. I have an intake for my 86.5 and put an injector (they need to go to witchhunter) that had old 'O' ring on it. Even with the intake off the car it was damn hard to remove the injector! Pulling with a twist is what finally removed the one I stuck in, but it was much tougher than I expected.

They all came out of the intake easy. Out of the fuel rail is tough...for some reason.

Like others have said: pull, PULL!!!, twist, and wiggle, and eventually they will come out... often leaving the O-ring in the fuel rail, where you can then pop it out with a variety of tools (just being careful not to scratch the inside of the injector socket).

Ok, I did get them all out.
Once I knew that it was OK to pull like crazy, and that nothing would be damaged in doing so, made all the difference.
