Default Momo shifter missing shift pattern. How do I get it machined on.

I'd like the correct 928 shift pattern machined onto my Momo aluminum short shifter. How would I go about doing that?

I don't need it, just want it. it always looked strange to me to be blank. I'd like it nice and deep and well done. Any ideas where I can go to do this?

Take it to a well equipt trophy shop and tell/show them what you want. They can perhaps lazer engrave it, sand blast it or mill it in like they do for plastic name tags if that can be done on anything but a flat surface. They engrave on all kind of wierd objects, so I suspect one method or more can be done on a sphere.

Yeah and it would be about six inches longer. No thanks. I like my Momo short shifter.

Good idea. There's a big place near by that does trophy's. I'll give it a shot and report back here.

Now how do I get the shifter off? PO put it on so I never messed with it. My guess is lift off the trim piece and pull up the leather and there's a screw or something holding it on?

Steve, Love the color on your green 928. Any newer pictures since you got it? I remember you posting pictures when you picked it up. Interior was really clean.

I'm not too sure, but I think if you pull the leather down a bit and then unscrew the trim ring around the botton of the shaft part of the shifter **** it will expose some set screws that you can loosen with an allen wrench. Hope I'm right.

jerry is probably right on this. found this in some other forums which looks to be the same product. how would you tell if its a short-shifter, does momo make short shifters for 928's?

Just a MOMO **** probably on cut down stock shift lever. Since most ***** are made for round shift levers you may have a clevis ( old wooden clothspin looking) adapter so a rectangular peg fits a round hole.

Car came with a short shifter and a Momo **** (Thanks PO). Mine is plain aluminum with no markings on the top ball part. It just says Momo on the base where it meets the leather boot. I have a receipt for the short shifter and the Momo piece from the PO. I don't think it was cut down.

If the trophy place is a bust try an engraver/wedding shop. If they can engrave a name on a golfball or a napkin tie they should be able to do this.
