So my new GTS has a 'P' VIN so is registered as a '93 but.........

the car was sold new in Montreal May, 1992 which would mean it was born in late '91 or very early '92.

to me its a '92...........what year is it???

 

To my best understanding, for Porsche skipped 1992 for North America and jumped to model year 1993. That is an early-made '93 sold in '92 (not uncommon for any car model). Outside the U.S. the GTS was a 1992 model-1995. Your car is a 1993 as far as Canada & the U.S. is concerned.
