This electronic gizmo is mounted on the bracket shown directly in front of the ABS/PSD brain in the driver's footwell. Anybody recognize it? Is there a cover that should be on this thing? What are two white blobs, does that indicate someone repaired this?

no idea what it is, but the blobs are glue to keep the transistors from rattling off

It is the mirror & mirror memory controller - it also acts as the keypad controller for the seat memory - although that is mostly located under the seat. There should be a cover.
