So which 928 5 speed transmission has the closest gear spacing (rear end doesn't matter)

Three choices..... Early, S4 and GT-GTS

time to choose.....I KNOW the answer.....

I could get off my lazy *** and look this up, but for some reason I remember the closest ratio 5-speed being the 78-79 boxes with the 2.75 final drive.

And remember it does not matter...what ever ratios Kibort happens to have ...those are the absolute best optimum for racing a 928 . And if per chance he might change them then the new ratios are the absolute best.

Stanley's 84 Euro. Has a layshaft from a 83 US. Basically a 3speed rocket with a pull-away gear and overdrive.

the closest ratio box, among the STOCK boxes is the G28-03 through 05..........the 2.20 S4 box is the worst with the largest gaps in between gears.......

That's why I plan to put a 2:20 R&P into the stock box that is in my 79.
