Default Help ID part - critical or not?

Am looking at a 93 GTS today and noticed there is material lifting from the following part. Owner was informed by mechanic that it is only cosmetic, just wish to get your opinion:

Not critcal, but get a known 928 expert to do a PPI on the car. Not just a Porsche expert, a 928 expert.

Cosmetic. The coating on GTS intakes peels off in large contiguous sheets like that. The black air filter in there is a bigger functional concern, as is the K&N sticker on the airbox.

Mine had a couple cracks like that when I bought it. I packed them with JB weld, sanded smooth and touched it up with silver paint. Looks much better; at least 'til I do a top-end refresh this winter.

I have never seen a black air filter and K&N's are orange.

As to the pealing, it is cosmetic.

Good luck with the GTS and make sure you post pics and give us some more details.

Thanks for the info. I plan on having PPI done by TRE in Van Nuys, CA. Vehicle has 56k on the clock, no OEM wheels (AZEV) so that means I need to hunt those down. Owner is asking $35k. Will see how this goes.

Probably different on the east coast.
Now you guys are gonna make me go and look. I have had several K&N's but run all stock now.

More pics of the car, less talk about the filter!

This thread made me giggle a bit.

Usually, the part id question is about something little and unusual.

Here is the vehicle, one more item I should note is that there is a small amount of paint bubbleing around the passenger side sideview mirror (around the mirror base on the door), it is peculiar since the sheet metal is aluminum. Assuming the vehicle checks out, what is the fair range for this 93 manual?
