Default Hershey Swap Meet 2012 pics

Excellent day at Hershey yesterday! The weather was almost perfect. Mix of clouds and sun. Rain held off until around 4:00. That was about the time a group of us left Red Robin for home.

Great to spend some (quality Porsche) time with friends again and meet some new ones. The 928 group out here are truly a great bunch of guys! I really look forward to the next GTG.

Here's some pics I took. I'll just post the only 928 content ones. I took many others of other Porsches too. (since I do love all P-cars)

Even though I don't think any of us won anything in the Concours. That was the place to park.

Some individual pics
Steve Geiger's GTS

Kevin Lacy's Blue Beast!

Kevin Michael's GT

Gary Knox's GTS

Just my rear

NY guys (Wayne and Alexai's)

Some other 928's (I don't know who's, so if one's yours, please speak up)

Hit 100 K on the way home!

PLEASE POST MORE PICS IF YOU HAVE THEM!

Rick,

Thanks for posting the great pictures. Sorry I didn't get to say "hi" when you were around taking pictures, I guess I was over seeing if there was any "stuff" I needed to buy. For the first time ever, I didn't find a single thing I needed!!!

The concours group with 928's (924, 944, 968 and 928) was the largest group of all - 25 or more cars. The 968 Sport Cup (black) car got 2nd place, and the Red 968 with 12k miles on it got first place. My 80K mile GTS was voted in 3rd place. As usual, a lot of nice cars there - and you ARE CORRECT - it is the best place to park for a $10 hospital donation!

Hope to see you at Frenzy this fall (or OCIC in Wichita in July).

Default Hershey 2012

Thanks Rick,

I managed to NOT take any relevent pictures, yet I did manage to
buy all the 928 parts I could find...mostly the entire box of parts John Lewis had left over from his days as PCA Potomac's 928 guy... the job which I inherited from him....I have not sorted thru all of it yet...I will post what I have soon and let you know....he last had a 85 928 S, I believe...been a few years.....mostly tune up and ignition parts...lots of yellow OE boxes...

Thanks for another great day
Always fun to catch up with everyone.

Cheers, Kevin

Thanks for posting. Having seen the pictures and heard more about the event, I wish I had attended. Maybe next year!

I unfortunately got a lot done around the house. Would have preferred the trip!

I recognize a lot of familiar faces and cars! Great pics Rick. Kevin, your car looks great - Blumax II. Can't wait to soon join in on the reindeer fun (as soon as I get settled a bit more).

Arrived around 8:30. Kind of kicking myself as I wish I entered into concours. Next year.

The weather was gorgeous, but when 'your' wife is 10 weeks pregnant and nauseous a lot of breaks are required. I saw a few 928 parts and bought some literature and models.

Really enjoyed looking at the cars and speaking with the people. I was going to count how many 928's there were, but lost track after I counted to three. haha Guessing more than ten, but less than twenty?

I was geared up for pics. Then after the fifth photo shot the camera died. The pic of the red 928 with the splitter was just a few cars up from where I parked.

Excellent pictures Pappy! The red 928 is Glenn M's I believe. You both should have parked in the concours. You have a beautiful car.

The problem I had, was there were so much to look at, that I didn't make it over to the regular Porsche parking until it was too late. A lot of cars were already gone. You can see that some of the cars in my pics were pretty lonely because I took the pictures around 2 pm or so.

With a pregnant wife I'm sure you guys were out early. Sorry I missed you.

I'm pretty sure there were over 15 928's there.

Post Partum Hershey report. Not to be a downer, the return drive is such a drag b/c the fun is over and I have 3 hours of crowded interstate and NYC to negotiate. It is worth it. Each year there are cars I can only dream about that stick in my memory. Last year it was that Cayman. This year it was the Carrera GT and the red wide, wide-body 911, what pieces of machinery; not that ours aren't. I had put the GT out of my mind til he revved it on his exit. I think I will never forget that sound. I'll put some pics up later. Great seeing the group. Kevin cracked me up that comment about the swap portion and how he loves looking at old (junk?) 911 parts.

Two mechanicals that cropped up during this outing: Hood latch is inop; it has stretched and I have tightened it before, but could always release it by removing it from the pivot post inside; may need replacing this time. Kick-down is not working properly. Have to do some research on that.

We were there only talked to one rennlister who bought a really nice used pod met a few really nice vendors and bought lots of good deals... So next time we should park in the concourse section to be with the other 928s?

The drive home always sucks. I would rather drive mine a thousand times before yours though. I have pictures of both of those cars so if you don't post them I will for you. My favorite there besides the 928s was the Brown Carrera S!

Not all the 928s were parked in the concours area. But most were. You needed to seek us out when we were close to our cars and introduced yourself. I think I spent from 9 am to around 12 pm right near our cars. Best place to park IMO and only cost an extra $10.

I really liked the custom Gemballa 911 in the concours section - an unusual car with a rather interesting history. Just like last year's, I spent more time looking for parts then at cars and taking pictures - looking back, I should have done directly the opposite...
