Default Engine swap

Hi all, new to this forum

Having the possibility to buy a very nice -short mileage -78 928.

With no engine. Is it possible to buy a -85 euro (m2822) (with different injection system ) and fit it?

Other massive problems?

Or should i keep looking for a -78 original engine.

Marius

85 will want a LOT of electrical work, different wiring harness in the front of the car, different CE panel and instruments, but if you find a Euro S 80/83 CIS motor (M28 11 or 12), should be easy.

Thanks! Looking to avoid major electrical issues
So, stick to the K-jetronic alternatively L-jetronic but stay away from later LH?

Im from Norway, but this is the far best forum found..

Kjet will drop in with little fuss, sorry I don't know exact details like changes in motor mounts etc. I haven't given much thought to Kjet to Ljet, but suspect it would be easier to keep Kjet even if you source a Ljet motor and needed to source all the Kjet parts.

What is your goal with the car?

Changing the injection type isn't a do it and your done thing, its a fiddle with it for all future problems. Given the work and expense of refreshing a motor and installing it as well as bringing a old 928 up to date, the best option in my mind is a Kjet Euro S, which will look to the casual observer at least, stock, but have 300 hp instead of 230.

I guess its gone under because of a timing chain issue. Guess everything else is intact

There is no chain only a rubber belt and if it strips, breaks it DOES NOT bend the valves. 944s all do but NOT early 928s. You can probably put on a belt and run it.

You are best to step up to an 80-83 Euro S motor. We put an 81 in Erik's car with very few changes. I think you will need a different fuel accumulator under the fender behind the right door. We had to change the engine wiring harness a little but it was minor. An auto or five speed will fit even though the numbers are different. Other than that I can think of no problems we had in the swap.

We did make some modifications. The cross member was changed so we could use newer motor mounts. The exhaust manifolds were up graded to a US 85-86 car.

Too bad the car ad is a fraud.
