Default tapped out at 5k(fixed)

Wel i did new fuel filter and ran a can of bg44k threough two tanks of fuel sand can now rev past 5.5k in second. I still want to know why tranny shifts out of 1st gear @ 4.5k no matter how hard i hold the trottle down. Is this the way it's supposed to work or, is there an adjustment that can be made. The shift cable at the throttle is without any extra slack and no vac leaks that I can find. Sorry if this topic is kinda dull. Thanks all

You should check camshaft timing and then ignition timing and advance. Often one cam is off by several degrees or a tooth and the car lacks performance, same with ignition timing.
