Center Cap Polishing?
I have a new wheel center cap. Emblem fell off the old one. The problem is the wheel and other caps are polished (pic). The new one looks to be powder coated and does not match. I have two plating shops in the NYC area, but before I call them, I wondered if anyone has personal experience in this area?

Can you take the emblem off the new cap and install it on the old cap? Or if you can remove the emblem from the new cap it should be relativley easy to polish the new cap and re-install the emblem.

You need a polishing shop to take off the paint and polish the center. The emblem gets removed then glued back on when finished. Which is why yours went missing as it was only glued on.

Polishing Center Cap
Between Jim and Brutus, a merger: it would seem I will cut the rivets attaching the new emblem and glue it to the old one. This could be tricky, to do so w/o damaging the emblem. Let's see, velvet hammer, teflon punch, soft vise, wish me luck. Maybe I can find a jeweler who does large jobs.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Steve,
What does the back side of your center cap look like?
Here's what mine looked like.
Pretty easy to remove the compound holding the emblem pin. Once that was removed the emblem popped right off. There wasn't anything on the back side of the emblem.
Then I had the caps re-chromed.

Rick: Different than yours. Two sets of rivets. Two hold emblem to cap, two hold cap to inner friction ring. I'll see if I can get some pics this weekend. I re-named the title here as electro plating is not what was done to the rims or other caps.
Additional note: I had the curb rash ground out of the one rim; they did too good of a job, actually, it is now too shiny compared to the others.
It's always something, but probably not something that most people would notice.
