I have just replaced the male housing on my rear hatch latch with a used one (see my 928OC profile). In dismantling the donor latch to replace the lock with my original, I found that the donor lock alarm connections had a short between two of the three wires. This would only have been detectable if the latch was removed and dismantled:



Fortunately my original was fine, but I thought I would share in case someone is having an alarm issue.
