1/2 shaft- bad cv joints?

Hi all

Is there a way to check if the cv joints on the half axles are bad w.o. removing?
I suspect the vibration in the car is connected to this, and it needs to be checked out.

id say, parking brake on and in gear, go down and grab the axle and twist and move... see if it clunks

if worn just trade them side to side then they only clunk in reverse... old VW cheap fix
