Really nice looking car and I was interested in the options, so looked up the VIN detail.

Here's the VIN in the ad ... WP0AA292XPS815113

Looking up the VIN I get it as a 1992 (not a 93) ... 55th car of 75 in that year (country code CO2 USA) ... and one of 38 manuals. I've checked and double checked, but I still keep getting it with that information ... so I'm not sure where the one of 24 comes from??. Edit: Just checked a few other sources and I still get it as a '92, but haven't got a double check of US and manual transmission numbers.

Here are the options that I get ... haven't got time to decode.
IXC8 IXD4 M058 M130 M139 I218 I239 I323 M331 M340 I403 M423 M437 M438 I464 M481 M484 M513 M537 M553 M562 M567 M570 M573 M586 M595 M602 M650 I692 I718 I912 I930 M983

BTW I like the avatar too Dan

It's an early '93. Built in '92, but in the U.S. was sold as a '93 model. The early GTS's are really nice, as many were ordered with some unusual options that can't be found on '94's and '95's.

OK ... that explains the 92/93 ... I seem to recall Errka talking about late/end of German year production being classed as following year in some Countries. The VIN puts it as later in the number produced for the US.

Thanks Dave. Sadly, I never made it to Tasmania when I lived in NZ. I have promised myself to someday visit. Seems like paradise to me.

Yep ... it's paradise alright Dan ... very similar rugged and spectacular scenery to New Zealand. I can be on a golf course in 5 minutes from home, at a beach in 5, in a boat in half an hour, up in a light plane over wilderness in an hour or so, big game fishing within a couple of hours, walking in wilderness in an hour ... and the roads are brilliant in some areas .. with no one in sight.

Any rennlister would get a warm welcome from me. I'm hoping to be able to get to the US soon and maybe catch up with some of you guys in person ... planned that before ... maybe the planets will align this year and it'll happen.

On topic ... here are the codes, but only sourced from one site and not double checked.

Some of those "options" would seem to be standard for a car of the GTS's stature, and not optional to me.

I agree ... they're all fairly standard 'options' for a GTS. Option lists for all years seem fairly random to me, and seem to often include items that are regarded as usual inclusions for a particular year, and omit some others.

Those heated 12 way seats (with lumbar adjustment) are rare and very desirable.

This car won't last long. It looks great, just enough miles to make it a driver.

Thanks,

Josh

NICE GTS, indeed the rims seem unusual. At least will not be too difficult to source out 928 cups.

I have a self~serving question ?
This may sound like a silly question to the veteran 928 enthusiast:

How does one decipher all the codes from the VIN?
Is there a link?

I have a 93 GTS p-silver two-tone gray interior 5spd. Very similar to
" the Flying Scotsmans "

My VIN is:
WPOAA292XPS820148

I was told by PO it was ordered with the rub strip delete option.
I could not find any documents dating back to the orig sale slip or window sticker when I was reviewing the records he had.

Well, I guess when I sell my GTS I will take a lost. My mileage is over 94k miles. RDK has a mind of it own even when it was with the PO.

Thank you fellow RL's

i never had any problem with the RDK on my 90 GT as long as I reset the sensors according to the manual. IE., air to low pressure, drive around the block, air up to high pressure, drive around the block, air down to normal pressure. Set them with the hammer and they would randomly false all the time.

When they went off on my 90 GT the pressure was down to 30psi and there was a nail in the tire. Happened twice.

Hi RKD,

Wow I never knew that about the RDK. The manuals in the glove did mention resetting the system. You mentioned hammer unit. I certainly do not have that. I believe Bill B may have one.

However I did post a thread in the past on how I could resolved the RDK dilemma. No one came up with the suggestion you did. I was toll to refer to older thread about installing a " jumper. " Which I have not done myself.

The GTS is in hibernation.
