Heat and/or A/C air entry point
While I have been working on the car this winter I noticed a bad smell coming from the heat and/or A/C vents when ever the blower fan is on.
My guess is that a critter got into the ambient air supply and died.
Problem is I am not sure where to start to look because I can not seem to figure out where the outside air intake is. I presume above the cowl below the windshield but I do not see anything that is easily recognized as the air source, much less easy to access.
Any insight would be appreciated. I really do not want to pull the dash (been there / done that) if I don't need to but I really do not want to put my instrument cluster, etc. back in only to determine I need to pull the dash.

We I "Think" I got everything the little bastard brought to the party, geez what a pile of stuff.
It was tucked up under the cowl, well actually the passenger fender, outboard of the hood hinge but I pulled the blower motor housing, hood hinge, etc. etc. just to even find the beginning of the mess. After a full afternoon of "fun" with the shop vac, extension gripper, and anything else I could think of I hope I got it all out. The blower motor housing is a very tight fit getting under the cowlling and the screws that hold it in place are no picnic to get to either.
