What I am reading here is that its most likely a salvage and I need to check the "runners" - sorry I'm not very familiar with these motors yet - please explain.. I think you mean the intake pipes or 'spider legs?' And dual dizzy I am taking to mean dual distributors, one on each cam? Ask me anything about a d-series honda or a V-twin, but I've never worked on a car like this... never even owned a V-8. Just one flat six...
Its alot of information, but seems like too much to put on my brother to drive 2 1/2 hours to look at... I'll have to wait till I'm back stateside. I'm still waiting on more pics and info from the seller. Thanks again for all the information.

I highlighted the item in question and its location on the picture in the listing.

I have an 84 Euro, all the numbers match, and it has a tag in the windshield.
I think this is part of federalizing, mine is clearly some kind of added plastic.

Some odd things:

- Looks like it has 7" lights with chrome rings - why?

- The fenders look too much like USA fenders witH the side turn signal added - rather than the other way around... like to see that up close...

Pictures are crappy

Federalization crap!

The reason why I know is the '77 I wanted to import into California would have had all kinds of bad things done to it.
The side lights on the corners was the deal breaker for me.

Head lights, CATS, side impact beams (stripping door skins), air pump, and such were okay, but the cutting of holes in the fender corners to install lights was over the top, and thus, I think I have lost my '77 sitting in Germany.

Andre - lights maybe, but not on the fenders unless I am mistaken.

What I mean is the USA markers are too good - they look to me like the real thing - not bolt on surface mounts - which means the fenders are USA fenders - nobody went that far for federalization... (and if they did they wouldn't put the side turn signal back on anyway!)

Something looks very odd to me.

Maybe it was in a front end impact and the fenders needed to be replaced...

I have seen crap jobs with block monsters, and fantastic jobs with some type of punch tool to make the holes. I agree the side markers are fantastic, and the other check is the the rear for the fog light.

The counter to your point is who would install the side markers behind the wheels in OEM state also?

Yes but the add on markers on all these look like ABSOLUTE CRAP which is what I have always seen - cheap bolt on surface mount garbage that looks nothing like the stock flush USA markers.

In fact the USA front/side & rear/side markers are really far nicer than the ROW side turn signals that protrude quite a bit.

Look closely at the first video and they look identical to the ones in the craigslist add. Both cars have the same light and dark shadow markings on the front side markers.

Putting an awful lot into some fuzzy little pictures ... I've seen some variation on all the lights on a Euro, except the rear one. Side markers get messed with.

So you disagree the car is a Euro?

The Twin-Dizzy is present and the euro side markers too.
The strut bar is Devek.

Anyways, it is worth a call to the guy to get photos.

Wouldn't it be a lot of effort and swapping parts to get a US model to run with the dual dizzy? Except for some people here on this board, I think most 928 owners really could care less or even know about differences between US and Euro. So a clean, but salvage titled 928 is going to have a low asking price.

Another cue

16V engine + a pair of side-by-side computers in passenger footwell, just in front of where door hinges attach.

A crank position sensor would be visible on the top of the engine, just in front of bell housing. The wire from it will mate to a plug down low in the back of the engine valley, which in turn has a wire running into harness.

Below air cleaner will be a MAF, basically looks like a round tube with screens on each end. Removing just the air cleaner lid and air cleaner will show a round outlet and the top screen of the MAF

The USA L-jetronic engine, by contrast, uses a square outlet to its square-ish-bodied AFM. By removing just the air cleaner lid and air cleaner you would see a square outlet entering the AFM and should be 4 bolts centering the air cleaner onto the inlet of the AFM.

Now, this is good stuff!!!

Since it has a rebuilt title "in '96" I would expect it to have some US parts no? maybe thats whats up with the fenders?

I still havent heard back from the seller yet. Soooooo.... Maybe I should use a phone instead of email. The last guy I talked to on the phone had me on the line for 30mins for a 5 min conversation, at 17.5 cents/min... I just cant wait to be back home.

Andre,
You have a you tube video, the 3rd one down on your post, of an 82 euro with magnaflow exhaust. I have an 84 Euro, and would LOVE it to sound like this. I love the sports car sound alot more than the sound with just a RMB.
Anybodt else have an exhaust like this, that would mind explaining how to put it on an 84 Euro ?
