Default Electrical fan

Hi all.

A quickie: Electrical fan does not start when coolant temp is in red (warning light on), tried to jump the wires at the temp sensor at the radiator, and it started = replace temp sensor?

Cheers

I kind of have the opposite problem. The moment I turn the key the fan goes on and never turns off regardless of temp. Think it would be the temp sensor for that as well?

mtornyl it would helpful if you include the year of the car,
go to user CP then click on edit signature then add the info.
For the problem,
if you have a 87 or newer then usually the sender at the bottom front driver side of the radiator is not connected

I would get an amp meter and see how much current is being drawn through the wires for the temp sensor to trigger the fan. Ideally it should be small to drive a relay.

Merlin and Ducky thoughts?

I had the same problem, turns out someone had connected the fan wrong. Where the connections for the switch for the freon the wires were connected together rather than through the switch. mine is a 85 euro. hope this helps.

Relay ? I found my original relay very hot after a run recently, where it is driving electric radiator cooling fan, and replaced it.
