Backing out of the driveway last night I noticed a tap or click after backing about 25ft. Seems to reverse itself when going back forward. It is maybe even loud enough to be called a clunk. It is a 87 5 speed lsd. This morning when cold it seems to be a little less loud. What should I be concerned about? The cv joints seem tight. What else to look for?

Hopefully it is unrelated but the car was acting up last night when warm. Stalling at low idle. Runs fine when accelarator pushed. I did fill up with 10% ethanal. Who knows around here they could be putting up to 20% in the mix. Last summer when I put ethonal in the car it did not like it. Erratic idle. It went away with either getting rid of the ethanol or spraying wd 40 in the ISV valve. Will try new O2 sensor as well. I read in one thread that maybe if a O2 sensor is getting weak it will not have the range to compensate for using ethanol. Sound right?

Played around withit a little more this morning. It sounds like a slop in the differntial. Backwards it does two quick clicks then forward it reclicks it self back to the original position.

Clicks could be a lot of different things. Make sure there is nothing wrapped around the half shafts. The last time i had this problem it turned out to be a broken spring in the rr e-brake.
