once the bearing is rusted replacement is the only cure

Another interesting experienced insight - Thanks. ;-) It does seem to me that the noise has diminished some in the couple of hundred miles I've driven it this season... Perhaps I'll wait on doing this job and see just what happens in the next little while

Mine did that and in about a hundred miles it was spitting out parts.

I haven't checked it yet but I'm guessing it's shedding pressure plate fingers.

On a good note, I have a complete new clutch. And transmission.
