Strikemaster...
Ok, so to bring you up to speed here...
Dong the conversion correctly...one would probably not use "PIGIRON", not with so many aluminum LS engines out there now...maybe 10 years ago.... New LS1-7 blocks are the next logical step for the 928's as far as I am concerned. (Don't get me wrong, there is something to be said for the 928 motor). It is an extremely fine engine, even in today's standard... some 20+ years later. However, with that said, the LSX engine, is approx 100lbs lighter, all aluminum, simple design (can swap out cams if you were so disposed in a matter of an afternoon). Multiport fuel injection... and very very cheap replacement parts with millions of spare parts to be found virtually everywhere. The motors can put out in excess of 600HP with over 150k miles on the odometer with almost no bearing wear. If you blow it up, spend $500 and grab another one from your local wrecking yard. There also probably happens to be 2 competing guys in every community who can tune the car on their dyno and program new flash codes to the GM computer. Not to mention the literally hundreds of pre-programmed tunes that are available on shareware for any possible engine solution to get you up and running before final tuning. There also happens to be volumes of books that shows the lowest of humans on how to R&R every part in the engine, with only sears craftsmen level tools. To me... its a no brainer... Now, to the purist Porsche lover, it did take GM 25 years after Porsche to do this, and if $ were not an issue, I would grab a new Porsche V8 from a Panamera and do it the 'proper' way, however, $$$ would not allow this in my world. The one who does this would be king of the hill as far as I am concerned. So...
In my own project, so far I have sold my EZK & LH fpr $650, old engine components $1,500, accessories $700, etc...+$2,500 to pay for the conversion. Once I get the list compiled I will post the actual buyild process on Rennlist to better make my case... I am well on my way to having a 600hp turbo charged LSX engine that will get 20+mpg, can replace parts from my local Autozone, and am not relying on 3 or 4 guys in the country for help... to me... unless you have a beautiful concourse 928, this is the next logical step. :-)

My full built LS2 is for sale....... I had planned on installing it in my race 928, but am worried about snapping transmissions.... the stress of racing on WIDE slicks is much harder than the occasional blast in a street car!!

I am not sure if stinkmaster looked at the pictures of the before and after of my car. There are conversion cars worldwide why should Porsche be exemept. My wife may not let me close to her 964 with an ls but I just bought a 87 928s that was going to the scrap pile for $600 and one day I will find something cool to power it. These cars are fun to work with and turn heads all day. A guy came in my shop with a Rx7 that has a ls3 in it, Rx7s are in the same boat as 928s too costly to rebuild to nice to scrap. Long live the creative mind.

928 Race Car re-surfaces!
Greetings, I am new to this group. Full disclosure , I probably will not be doing much in the way of back and forth posts. Not great with follow up or chat rooms. (My phone works fine for any one willing to communicate old school )
That said, I am the guy that has Mark Kiborts 1979 928 Race Car.
Bought it last year, got her back on track and have been driving the wheels off her at track days.
***Still a good solid car Mark - Thanks for turning me on to the former owner for purchase and building a nice ride.
Reason for the post is two-fold. The car is for sale 5900$ bucks.
Track ready add fuel. ***You will be driving with wind in your face however
as the front window broke on the way to the track last month. After we extracted her at the track AND vented the rear deck 4 inches all around the rear window still EXPLODED on the front straight at Buttonwillow (very pretty glass rainbow in mirror) on the 3rd lap.
Any how, I love the car, posting with you guys because if the car is not snagged up very shortly I will do the Chev. conversion . Problem to date is we simply can't kill this engine- she won't die gracefully.
I race all kinds of cars, mostly sb Chev powered, still have a pile at the shop. If anyone wants a sweet little sorted 928 race car call me. Otherwise, you guys will have a new Chev. powered 928 race car to kick around as soon as I put a stake in this mills heart.
Thanks for letting me post, has been very entertaining reading this stuff.
