Default OB tail lamp and stop lamp warning problem

I recently replace carpets and when the warning light control box was out I noticed the PO had the stop lamp wire disconnected.

According to the owners manual I should have the stop lamp warning illuminated on start up and it should go out when the brake pedal is depressed. This has never worked . I reconnected the wire and I still do not have stop lamp on start up.

I do get the stop lamp warning light when I turn on the parking or head lights and it goes out when the brake pedal is depressed and illluminates as soon as the brakes are released.

I also now have a tail lamp warning light illuminated but all lamps are operational.

Common issue or multiple things at the same time?

Are the warning control boxes common or specific to certain years?

When I had an issue with the warning control box, it had a continuity issue in between receiving the feed from the dash and outgoing to the taillights. I would pull the box and run some continuity tests to confirm the box is good or bad. GL.

when its hot out my stop light warning comes on whenever it wants. some CE warning control units "under dead pedal" are different. have you taken the black bulb checker unit out and checked it? (above CE panel)
