82 'vette v.s. 86.5 928
Ok, another goofy question. The guy next door bought a 82 stock with the crosfire injection 350 with 150000 on it. Its an auto and looks and sounds totally stock (he says so too). He rambles on about running them someday.
I have chips, no cats, X-pipe and 78,000 miles on mine. and its a 5-speed, any thoughts of the iutcome?

Very bad for Vette. Its almost worst MY possible if all stock. 0-60 mph something like 8 seconds. Stock '82 US 928 is faster. At least 5sp version.

do you have a hole in your block? are three of your tires flat? did you accidentally pump diesel fuel into the tank? did you forget the key for the lock holding your car to a boulder? are you given to fits of total paralysis behind the wheel?
if you answered 'no' to all of the above questions, you'll annihilate him. It's the SECOND worst vette. the '80 California-only cars came with a 305 and 150hp...

From and stand still and even more so from a roll you will spank him like a red headed step child, even if you SUCK at drag racing you will whip him! Not to mention his car is UG-LY and your car is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

I put that same motor with crossfire in my '81 Camero back in the day. It was pathetic. It would have been a good bit stronger with a decent intake and carb.

Like others have said. That's nearly the slowest Corvette ever made. You'll be fine.
Even it it had a built engine, the diff ratio is ~2.7 so they feel gutless until about 40mph.

race in reverse, so at least there's competition to keep both vehicles straight.
otherwise, you stand outside your car. when he honks 3 times and takes off, you get in, put on your seatbelt, start it, adjust the volume on your stereo, then still pass him before you get out of 2nd.
probably more fun to just bench race with him, since you will have to remain neighbors after the outcome.

A bit harsh don't you think James... I personally love that body style and will own one at some point down the road... but as far as performance...those were the dog years of GM..I think it had like 210hp LOL... 0 to 60 in forever...

82 vette automatic.....with ceasefire injection......so maybe 200hp.....it will have NO CHANCE...not even close......unless you pick a very curvy road and your friend is a great driver and you are umm "not"....but at least you have the better car by a mile...

My father owned a 1982 Collector Edition, and it was an absolute SLUG! I drove it many, many times. It was a pretty car, but very lackluster performance. I have never driven a pre-S4 car, but I would say that you probably have nothing to worry about.

Start out in 2nd gear. He'll at least have a moment of hope before the S3 warp drive engages at 2700 rpm...
