Default Trouble removing coolant pressure cap

OK this is maybe my dumbest post yet but, it's the first time I've tried to remove my coolant reservoir pressure cap at home, and I can't get it out. Am I stupid? Everything is fine but I have a slight coolant leak somewhere and I want to add a bit of coolant, before I take it in to see what the trouble is in a while. So I unscrewed the cap and it released, but it seems stuck in the reservoir neck. I pulled and tugged, but I can't get it to come out. Any special trick to this?

Thanks,

Sean

Keep twisting it until there is no resistance to twisting. Most coolant system caps (mostly applicable to rad caps) on vehicles have a catch so that if some idiot tries to remove it while the system is under pressure, it will catch on a tab on the cap so that injury is reduced. This is only applicable to the rad portion of the system, but i imagine they use the same caps on the coolant resevoir.

It'll come off about a 1/4 turn, then PRESS down hard, turn another 1/4 turn.

Its a safety feature..

I'm sure a full res pic of your avatar will make up for any short comings you might have with future posts.

Oh, press down while continuing to turn. . . it's like Tylenol, I get it.

Best I can do with the picture here, sorry.
