Default Extra heavy duty battery ground straps

The stock battery ground straps seem to be around
4 gauge. I found these by searching: 1/0 gauge!
Stock measures aprox 22 mm wide- these are 32.25
mm wide. stock = aprox 3 mm thick, these are 4mm thick. I got the 18" length, Haven't had a chance to test it yet as the car is apart for other things, but they are way heavier. Some shrink tube & twist it so its
flat going through the battery cover.

To use them, you need to get a negative terminal like this:

I followed that thread, but these are 1/0 gauge,
bigger than the 2 gauge ones from Waytek.
Probably overkill, but can't hurt.

Jim--

I looked carefully at a similar option from the local marine supply store. Concern was the battery post terminal with the vertical stud and the wing nut, and clearance to the battery box lid. All is hopefully at ground potential when all is connected, but with the cable lifted at the frame end the battery post end must be electrically isolated from the lid if you really want the battery disconnected. It's also one extra connection to clean and one additional point of failure. I didn't actually measure to see if all would clear, so my concerns may be groundless (sorry... ), but standing at the shelf at the marine store I thought the worst and made the decision to go with the 2ga Waytek option.

These battery terminals don't have the top stud & wingnut,(strap connects to the side), so should work.
The extra connection is something I'll have to stay on top of. Thought it would be worth a try.
A new strap of any type is better than a 20+ year old factory one.
