does anyone have a pic or description of where the vacuum line for the auto transmission comes in on the rear firewall?

Where does it run and connect to the tranny?

I should be attached to the top of the bell housing and enters just below the fuel lines in the V. It won't come out of the firewall. Don't have a picture handy though.

Correct, mine was on top of the bell-housing, passenger side, running along the torque tube.

On my old 86.5 we replaced the black plastic vacuum line with metal brake fluid line. The line runs into a 6 way manifold connector at the back of the engine. At the transmission the line runs to the modulator.
