Randy--

After 4+ years I recently (yesterday...) had to de-do some of the repairs I illustrated in JPTL's original thread. I should probably call Mark and see if his cashmere seat skins match what I have. Meanwhile, mine were doing fine until I decided to wear jeans and a beltloop somehow opened one of the old cracks. The repaired section looks and feels new again, except the surface graining looks polished a bit from the sanding and the filler. I thought about using the airbrush or the HVLP detail gun for the finish paint coat, and may come back to that again later. Otherwise just used a foam brush with several thin coats.

I recommend that you not try to use anything behind the tear unless it's really thin. Else it will leave a bulge. Maybe some of that red stucco tape would do but it will be a real chore getting it in there. Thin fabric with some contact cement?

I was thinking duct tape should be just fine.

Seriously.

I constantly encounter such a problem as you have. I have already tried a lot of all kinds of car leather repair kits. But more effective was the RepairPlus1 Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit. I was pleased. Here you can view more details and find out the price.

Thanks, Steve! Eventually decided to recover them. See my recent thread 928 Nemisis Becomes 928 Hero.

holy seven-year-old threadrevival, with a first-time poster offering a product endorsement endorsed by RV. Time ttavel is almost a reality at least for seat repairs.

Sorry to hear about the crack in your leather seat! It's great that you treated it with Leatherique and used custom sheepskins to protect it. For repairing the crack, I recommend checking out some of the best car leather repair kits available here: Best car leather repair kits. These kits are designed to fix leather damage and can help restore your seat to its former glory. Good luck with the repair! 🚗🛠️
