Talking S4 MY89 - O2 Sensor

Hi,

So this evening I replaced my O2 sensor in my S4 MY89. I had (as some of you listeners will know, had sensed that I may have had a "lazy" O2 sensor. The old O2 sensor looks like it was the original (23 years old and 114,000miles)

WOW! What a difference!!!!

Much smoother idle.

None of that lumpiness after about 75-80 secs (when O2 goes into closed loop mode.

Feels much better under throttle, more willing and more power!

Just luv this car :-D

BTW, thnx Roger for the fast turnaround on the new O2 sensor. Sensational order-to-delivery time!!

Have a great weekend.

Cheers
Tony

My casual research suggests that a replacement interval somewhere in the 40k mile range is practical. The improvement in fuel consumptiopn alone pays for the sensor at that point.

Hi, no I went with the standard O2 sensor. Probably should have gone wideband given that I am considering Sharktuner down the track. Anyway very happy with the early/initial improvement impressions. I've got an interstate trip next weekend (round trip of about 900 miles). So will be interested to see what impact this has on overall performance including economy. Cheers Tony

Hi, yep. I have an interstate trip next week end (round trip of about 900 miles) so will be interested to see how the economy goes and also overall performance. Cheers Tony

Thanks Dr. Bob. Entering my car's history in an Excel spreadsheet this evening and that's one thing that's never been replaced (104K miles...)
