Default Cayman Wheels

Looking at a set of cayman wheels for my 89 928. The wheels are 8J x18 ET57 and 9J x18 ET43.

I believe the wheels will fit, but looking for a second opinion.

The wheels work well. The trick is the tires in the front. 245 maybe, 235 likely. Not all tires are created equally even with the same numerical sizes.

I was looking at the Hankook Ventus EVO K110 (Lots of postive feed back on the forums for this series)
Fronts 235/40/18
Rears 265/35/18

They should fit just fine. I'd go with the 235 up front. Out back, IMHO I'd go with 255 on a 9" rear - that's what Porsche did. Good looking wheels, BTW.

I'd do 245 and 255 just to get the balance even closer... That is just me. I put (on 16" wheels though) 245's on 7.5" for the track...

As others have said, they should fit fine, but the 43et on the rears may be a bit close the fender. I'm running 19" Carrera Classics, but they were Cayman takeoffs as well. 8x19 et 57 front and 9.5x19 et 46 rear. The rears are pretty close to the fender, and that's with factory rolled GT fenders. et 43's will even stick out slightly more.

Have 235's on the fronts (aspect ratio is going to be different I know because of rim diameter) and 265's on the rear, but that's on a 1/2" wider rim. Check the overall diameter on the tire sizes, best if you can keep the diameter as close as you can to 25".

Wheels look NICE, anxious to see how they look on a 928.

Gary I know I stand alone but I'm not sure 43 will work on an 89 in the rear. It may be very close to the fender. I guess you should use AO's calculator.

Here's a thread with my Cayman wheels. Same size and offset but different spoke pattern.

So, 235 on an 8" up front and 275 on a 10" rear sound good to you guys?

Being a 9" rim, the wheel is narrower than your rear wheel by 12mm. It will actually tuck inwards by 3mm compared to yours.

Thumbs up Looks good

I have an -89 GT with these Cayman S wheels (9" ET43 and 265/18) and a 5mm shim/spacer. No rubbing at all.

^^^^^^

Wow, how many air molecules fit between the tire and fender over there??
