Cleaning cleaning and more cleaning.

New wheels and tires ordered should be next weekends project. Anyone need some 6yo Toyo Proxy tires on some beat up chrome wheels? Proxy's have a lot of tread left.

Front driver quarter was repainted. Pretty bad job. Rest of the car needs some help as well.

Michael

Michael,

Looks like you got a smoking deal on that 89. I paid about the same for one with a bad engine. Loving those low gears and LSD.

How's the interior cleaning up?

Don,

Carpet set is on order from the Leather Shop. I will wait to start taking apart the interior to fix electrical issues until I have the kit here. No point in taking the interior apart twice. Haven't done much other than that.

Figured out the fender allignment issue this afternoon. Someone jacked up the car and missed the lift point and got the fender instead. Oh well stuff happens, wasn't me.

It actually has BOTH lower engine panels in place. Who woulda thunk it?

Lot's of fixing still to be done,

Michael

I have an antenna'd front window for an '87-'88. Looks like the stereo is attached to the antenna above the hatch.

One surprise after another it seems. Glass looks pretty good only one small chip.

I am willing to swap if it can be done affordably. Cost is yours of course for the swap.

M,

Not sure how I missed this post and I say SCORE! I don't hang around here too much due to the bull-frogs...

I appreciate what you’re doing and my S4 was in these sorts when found.

NICE SAVE and keep us posted.

Now for a RMB,

I want it to sound the same as my '88. I thought it was a 928GT part on the '88 but not so sure now. Others have the RMB solutions, just not sure how they all sound.

I'll get her fixed up by SITM, or bring the EVO X. I should be able to keep up for sure.

Have the chip repaired if it's required for VA safety inspection. Swapping windshields isn't worth the risk of cracking a good windshield.

I'm not understanding the antennae predicament. What is it that is wrong?

I'm seeing lots of secondary items (wheels, RMB, etc).

How does the car run? How does the timing belt look? Has the car been rid of all those nasty fluids (ie. corrosive coolant or brake fluid)?

I know that every 928 is different, but at the same time, they have a common process (usual for 25+ year old 928's). Would be very interested in understanding your plan of attack.

Jason kinda summed up the window/antenna. It is there but not in use. I figured that if someone needed a wired window I have one. I know that they are expensive and hard to find.

As to the wheels and tires, the stock chrome wheels were going to cost more to repair than it would cost to get a set of all new. The tires after sitting for 6 years were likely out of round and not worth keeping vs. replacing IMO.

Interior electronics are this cars biggest issue and will be addressed first above all else.

Other things to do:

1. Plugs
2. Ignition wires
3. Timing belt and WP.
4. Change oil
5. Fuel lines and filter

Last things for me to do will be suspension and paint.

The car seems to run fine considering the time sitting. I am not in a hurry to do anything really. I have no plans to get it on the road full time before SITM.

Filtered that out for ya,

VA, looks through a checklist. The checklist includes some of the following.

- Headlights
- Tail lights
- Fog lights
- Back up lights
- Seat belts (per seat)
- Turn signals
- Horn
- Windshield wipers (front and back)
- Defroster (front and rear)
- Door locks
- Suspension - The driver side upper control arm had failed due to an accident by a PO. (replaced)
- Electrical - The stock amp was removed by PO and the loose wires were grounding out on the floor The electrical in the car is still a mess but I am working on it. Looks to be the hatch/hood and the lack of a delayed turn off like a more modern car might have, is what is causing most of my problems currently. Still working on things. Just putting it back to stock should solve my problem.

The following things will be replaced before it becomes a "daily."

- Plugs (already replaced)
- Injectors (waiting for delivery)
- Ignition wires are here to be replaced when I have the time
- TB/WP will get replaced soon enough.

Blah, blah blah.....
