Does this method leak fluid all over?
Do you install this way also?

Thanks Bill.

I did remove the cross brace and air box.
I have a 2 post lift
I have a highlift trans hoist
I have a support stand
I had zero problems
Removed rear suspension completly and cleaned well.
Removed trans and replaced o rings and seals. Replaced bearings and seals in TC.

I was not in a rush and enjoyed every minute of it. It turned out awesome.

I can tell you without removing the trans and rear suspension I would not of enjoyed so much.
Yes, the more research I do the more it seem there is the right way, and the other ways to do this. Since this is my first time, and I am prone to breaking things that tend to be 'no longer available' I will run it by the numbers.

I've been working on borrowing a transmission jack and some stands from a friend. I would like to get it all done in one day (So I don't end up occupying the bay I'm using). About how long did it take you ?

Well time wise to replace the bearings might have been 1 hour since mine fell out.
I would think I could drop the rear suspension and trans in 3 hours start to finish with the experience I have now. 1st time it took 6 hours because I am reading and following write ups.

To remove the TT add another hour if the bowden clamp at the top of bell housing comes out easy. 6 mm hex can be a issue. I replaced it with a bolt.

If you do not need the TC bearings and seals in the trans you are ready to reassemble.
I would say 12 hours total but I would think you will have a lot of set up time and breaks if doing on your back. In fact I would not attempt this on my back at the age of 58. There will be to much getting up and down for wrenches and such.

The rear suspension went in very easy with the high lift trans jack as did the trans.
I forgot to install the rear pinch bolt before installing the trans. I was bitching at myself because I had to remove the trans again. Of the 15 minutes it took to R&R the trans 5 minutes was bitching and the 10 minutes was wrenching. It really is worth the time to locate the proper equipment. Rent a stall at a shop or look for more time.
