Yesterday did a 600 mile hop down to West Palm Beach with my wife Betty to visit family, we've done the trip many times mostly in the Odyssey and its a bit of a boring chore, the trip, not the family, but when we go in the 928 its an 'Event', just like Mike said, to me its total involvement.

My wife says, the seats are the easiest and best seats to fall asleep in.

On the way down the odometer clicked over to 290,000.

[QUOTE=Mike Frye;9225696]

In my 5-speed 27 year old 928 I feel like I'm 'in the moment' the ENTIRE TIME I'm driving. For 5 straight hours each way I'm completely involved in driving the car and what's around me. I feel the revs, switch gears, feel the road through the wheel and my seat and the car is an extension of my thoughts.

Are you saying that you are the author of words on that plaque?

I was always under the impression that the author was unknown.

I have that plaque posted in my garage.

These cars are indeed amazing. I've done a bunch of 8 hour stints in mine, and though I've driven more "comfortable" cars, this one still has me driving at the end of those longish rides, not just sitting behind the wheel wishing it were done. My shop project is almost complete, putting in the conduit for the electrical system now, hopefully have a lift in time to thoroughly catch up on all, no make that most of, the deferred maintenance before SITM. WTF? I should be taking up canasta- I'm 70 this year for chrissakes! BUT: Heinrich got the flow and Mike got the go- 928's just capture your imagination.

Yes, I wrote those words Randy. It wasn't a secret If you follow the link to the original post by Paul Champagne (I posted with the pic) you'll see who the author is.

To Mike's and others' points here .... the experience of driving a 928 is very unique, it gets under your skin in a way not all cars do. I love driving mine ... thanks Mike for reminding us ... it isn't often-enough remembered that it's all about how you enjoy the car, we get so wrapped up in other things like working on them and improving them ... but at the end of the day, the DRIVE is what makes the 928 a must-have!

Fantastic - had no idea.

Didn't know you had kids either.

Or the thing about the leather underpants!
