Adjustable fuel pressure on a '89 928 s4 with exhaust mod??
Hi every one.
I have now searched this forum for a couple of hours, but is still a bit confused, as there seems to be different takes on the subject.
I have a '89 S4 with a dual 2.5" stainless exhaust, RMB, no cats and a x-over. So far no changes to the intake, but might buy something like the "blackbird" or build something myself.
No changes to the computer either.
Would I benefit from installing an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator? And if yes, how much?
Thanks
Best regards,
Casper Schou

How would you KNOW how to adjust it if you had it ? Now that Sharktuning is possible trying to fool the injection brain by jacking with fuel pressure is crude at best. In the past they tended to just run them rich as hell to avoid any possible lean condition because lean ruins engines fat just wastes fuel.

I can't see that a RRFPR is of any use at all. As has been said many times, the S4/Gt/GTS all run too rich at the top end as standard. They do run a little weak in the mid range when accelerating, but the only way you can correct both problems is by SharkTuning.

Okay, thanks for the replies.
As for how I would know how to adjust it, I would use an A/F-ratio gauge??.
I know the S4 is said to be running rich, so for that I really quite didn't understand why so many people actually suggested raising the fuel pressure. perhaps the problem is, that I have been reading up on some posts that dates a couple of years back.
As for Sharktuning, that would be the ultimate solution. But for now I do not know of anyone in Denmark with a Sharktuner and unfortunately I can't affort one right now...
Please bear in mind that I'm asking because I'm confused. So the conclusion is, that adding a AFPR (as the one from 928 specialists) would not do any good?
Thanks again guys.
