Anybody looking for a nice GT (excuse me, "standard'). No affiliation, just curious what you think of this one ...

This ad has been on CL for a while and I think it is a scam. I emailed a couple of weeks ago, no reply. someone else from RL emailed me asking if I could look at it, but they had gotten no reply either. The ad is strange too, "aus" for the location, but not in the Austin CL, maybe Australia? :-) Also the ad has very sketchy info. I wouldn't get to excited about this one...

I agree. Highly likely a scam. I recently had great interest in a 911 Turbo that I found on C.L.
The ad had very vague details, similar to this. Took three days for a reply from the "owner", and when he did reply, he immediately wanted PayPal information for me, so that he could get a deposit for the car. Without me even seeing it. I told him to jam it and reported him. Ad was gone within days.

I sent the seller, a dealer, an email on Christmas eve. He replied the day after Christmas that he'd sent the car to the auto auction and folllowed up at the end of the week that it sold. I don't think he ever knew what he had.

5sp S4 production stopped at end of '89 MY. All '90-91 5sp are GT's. For US market only few 5sp S4 were made after '89 GT intro in February 1989. For ROW markets both 5sp S4 and GT were done side by side until end of '89 MY.

That's not the first time this happens with a red GT and a clueless dealer... there was a famous red/black low mileage 89 that someone picked-up from a dealer who thought it was an S4 - and priced it accordingly.
