Default LOOKING FOR an 87/88 2.2 5PSD

Does anyone have a good 5sp they would like to sell? I am looking for a 87/88 5spd which has the 2.2 ratio. I have an 89s4 which has the final drive 2.63 ratio. I am looking to lower my rpms when highway cruising.

I understand many people like the higher ratio for quicker 0 to 60 times, personally I would rather have lower highway RPMs.

My trans is in great shape if anyone in interested in a trade. Also if someone is looking for a nice 89 unit, I may be willing to just sell mine.

Victor

What rpm do you run at 60, 70, and 80? I might be able to drive my car this weekend and do the same test. I really do not know what I have but I am assuming 2.2, I believe that is the most common. How many miles are on your gearbox?

So it looks like I found a good 88 5spd. That being said I should soon have my 89 5spd available soon. If anyone is interested, PM me. It is in very nice shape, shifts perfectly, and has less than 90K, but has no LSD.

Here is the current RPMs at 80. I will have the trans here in a week or so and install it shortly after that. We shall see how much of a difference it makes

Wow. I had no idea they were geared that low. I think my '84 is in the low 2000 range at 80 mph. I'll check this weekend.
