Angry Pain in the pod

You guys may think I am a slow worker as I posted on pod removal over week ago, but yesterday was first chance to finish job which I thought would go smoothly.

Of course not. There is a nut which sits in hex recess on LHS, which longer of bracket bolts screws into to. But no matter how carefully you align things, the thing gets pushed out of recess and drops off! There's no room to get finger in and hold in place either.

I had to disconnect cluster and pull pod forward to replace the nut. I have now glued the sucker in the recess! That should hold it but won't be able to work on it again till weekend.

On plus side I am getting faster at dealing with cluster edge connectors with all the practice!

How do other lister cope with that nut? I don't know if it's on the pre digidash pods.

It’s just a PITA. Shocki's instructions on removing the cluster in 15 minutes is great--I'm waiting for the sequel "How to install the cluster in 15 minutes or less."

I lined up the holes with a small Phillips screwdriver through the washers and spacers and then gently threaded the cheesehead screws in place. It also helps to tape the spacers and washers in place on the left-hand side of the cluster. That said, if gluing the nut works, I'll try that next time I’m in there.

Thanks NoVector - reassured it's not me being uniquely challenged!

Yes I had taped the bushes and washer on the LHS when I first put pod back in, and thought I was home free with the very long bolt on LHS through the bushes and located in threaded hole at top of pod. But then I ran into the nut problem and obviously wasn't as gentle as you - the nut would pop out even just using a screwdriver to line things up nicely. I don't think glueing that nut could cause any problems in future work with the pod so I'll see how it goes from here.
