Default Photos of reupholstered early seats please...

I'm getting ready to redo the seats in my car and would like to see examples of seats that have been done to see how close they are to the originals.

Also, if you could include who reupholstered the seats.

Getting the early seats close to original is not difficult, but that is certainly not what you would want to do, as there were flaws in the design of the covers in the early years, which accounts for the bottom pleats coming loose on most of them.

I have my own way of doing these early models, which looks the same in most respect, but are quite different under the skins.

Here is a link that covers some of the differences:

Above pictures are of French seamed covers, but same principles apply to covers with piping.

I had mine recovered locally (Oz) 6+ years ago, same pattern as original, and have had no issues with them. Some care is needed with refitting the switch mounting plate to avoid stress on the plastic, or making the leather look untidy. IIRC it took 2 hides, with some left over - enough to recover the steering wheel and a few accessories. White leather wasnt easy to find, but in the end got some actual German cow skins that matched my colour.
Will see if I have any pics and post them.

You are welcome.

Here is a set with the more traditional piping, but still, with the updated constructions. These are manual seats, so they do not have the leather cover for the gears.

No doubt Paul's are the best I've ever seen, I'm just trying to keep myself amused till my turn on his queue comes up.

Thanks for posting the link D

And yes, all my prices are on my website.
A set of premium leather front seat covers in traditional design with piping is $1275.00
That includes the updated construction, the engraving on both headrests and leather covers for the hinge plates or gear cover (depending on model)
Also includes leather covers for the seat belt receptacles.

I am also working on offering cover kits to be installed by the owner or local upholsterer. These will be made of the same quality leather and will have the same fit as my signature covers, but will have the level of details of the factory covers. This line should be available in a couple of months at around $1000.00 per set (2 front seats)

Paul

The options are no where as nice as Pauls but better than what I had by a long shot. I just redid my in vinyl from a EBAY provider. They are very labor intensive but can be done.

If there is anyone out here that hasn't checked out Paul's website - you will drool all day long over all of his work. He is an incredible artist and craftsman in working with leather. I'm finally budgeting for him to redo some of my interior this year. Can't wait.
