When I saw that matte primer with my own eyes I also was thinking the same, however I still like the original Iris Blue colour even more (OK: so I'm biased ) - so I stayed with that.

Blue looks great too!
So true! I need to have a little bit more patience still, very soon now...

All thanks to the repair shop of making it look good again. As I have not been to the repair shop yet when he did this final colour painting, I am yet to see this with my own eyes and will post then.
However: my faith fully is based on what I have factual seen done by the repair shop owner on other cars: perfection (and I hardly ever use that word).
During the initial meeting and talks (which is now a long time ago) I asked how he was going to match the paint (as Iris Blue is at least a two tone colour and that is even besides the metallic parts): he said nothing and walked me to the paint mixing room, opened up his electronic colour spectrum analyzer and then showed all the Dupont paints as in stock. I kinda liked that...facts and actions and no wasted words (in that particular case: none).

More photo's as made by myself during yesterday's (30.04.2012) visit to the repair shop place. And I can honestly say and state that even from 1 mm up close that it is looking very good indeed: colour match wise and the finished result as is now, have a look for yourself:

The final painting (including clear coats) has also been done on the remaining items (which were a long time "in transit", logistic chains in Europe being what they are sometimes), being the brand new front bumper and right front fender. The sticky note on the right hand side on the painted bumper is to remind about making sure of putting the black beating in place.

And note that the strange looking patches are just the reflections of the paint room door windows in underneath photo (in case you are wondering):

And as another example of the overall capabilities and craftsmanship of this repair shop, have a look of this ongoing restoration of a 356 which is currently in epoxy primer status (it's body shell has been "bare-bones" stripped and every square cm repaired/replaced where so needed):

Just a few panels that have been replaced (underneath the car shot)...before putting on the stone protection "paint"...wow:

My car should be finished, including a full one day taking overall professional car polishing, by mid next week.
I'll keep you all posted!

Default All fixed, "back in business".

A great day today: excellent weather and getting reunited, see underneath a few pictures of how it has all turned out.

And a special thanks towards the following Rennlisters who have provided me with their further help and invaluable answers and guidance (in no particular but alphabetical order):
- Dave928S
- HermanK
- JHowell37
- Pekka V
- Vilhuer

And for anybody in Finland who either needs the perfect paint job and/or top quality body panel repairs, I can fully recommend Overpaint Oy (see: http://maalaamopaint.fi/overpaint/referenssit/ ). I can honestly state that I have been (and most likely always will be) one hell of a picky customer, and they have been more than great throughout the whole process. Passionate is the right word, I think.

Tomorrow is a public holiday in Finland, what should I do...

Didn't we already talk about this? Change off those winter wheels, forget all other nonsense and go for a drive. If you simply just have to do something come to Pakila and we can check out those plastic plugs for rear wheel liners.
