You may get a better price by selling them separately - but it will take some more time & effort that way.
Those looking to upgrade with a pair will likely be preferring H4's over H5's, and used H4's are scarce in the USA - that drives up their price.

Demand is higher for the S4's because there are more owners replacing with OE. Partially due to the low supply of H4's, and there are just plain more S4's or later out there.
928 International sells them both for $175 used.
Ther H4's are preferred as you say.

I think realistically Sean is right that you will likely get more like $300 - mainly because the demand for these is low - probably more for single unit replacements due to damage...

H4's are $395 each (though they are about the same to a bit cheaper than H5's elsewhere).
Used H4's are also listed at $175 each - but do you think there are any actually available? anyone checked recently? Mark A usually posts when they are available and they get snapped up quickly...
Sorry - used H4's will always sell faster than H5's and for a premium.

Actually new H5's at 928 Intl are $379 each currently. Used is $175 each (so $350/pair)

I was really just talking about the sales price & opportunity for these H5's
The whole thread context was about resale value of a pair of used H5's
Used Bosch H4's will sell for more than Used Bosch H5's and will sell faster - thats what I said. I honestly believe this is true, has been for a while and will continue to be...
The demand for used (real) H4's easily outstrips the actual supply, while the demand for used H5's relative to actual supply is softer (but still reasonable).
The absolute numbers for supply (& demand) are clearly very different since in the USA there are (and were) virtually no used H4's coming off scrapped cars.
(Of course in ROW countries the opposite is even more true....)
In the US I'd guess Used H5s : Used H4s are probably 10:1 or more in availability.
The demand for New H5's is likely relatively softer because enough used ones in good-fair condition are available at a much lower price for damage replacement & for upgrading to H5's from sealed beams.
Those in the know will want to hold out for H4's and will snap them up quickly and at a premium because they are in short supply.
This drives up USA demand for new H4's even if they are very expensive.
Since the majority of 928's sold were to ROW territories there are also many more H4's available in the worldwide supply chain.
About the only thing that counts for the sale here is the demand relative to supply and the effect on price & ease of sale for these H5's
I don't think we actually dissagree on anything do we?
