Hey Jim, I'm running 295's on the rear wheel as you and Jarrod with little to no clearance issues. The wheel well seems to have the factory rolling. It is a tight fit but seem to have no problems.

Jarrod, if the above suggestions don't work (silicone on the inner wheel), I'd go with a wider tire. I'm still lovin my Hankooks.

Jarrod, FWIW, I had a similar problem with one of my rear wheels a year or so after they were refinished. I had noticed a bunch of nasty-looking **** all over the inner bead area on that tire, apparently sealer of some kind used by the refinisher when they put the tire back on. Mine had a slow leak that kept getting worse until I'd lose 10 psi in a couple of days.

The bad part is I took the wheel to a local place and dropped it off ... when I came back to get it, no one knew what was done, but a lot of the nasty **** was gone from the inner bead area and it's held air fine ever since.

It was interesting that the same place had previously done the fronts and the inner rim areas of those wheels were perfect, so the way that one rear wheel came out was very noticeable. I wonder if in the reworking process if the sealing surface doesn't come out nice and smooth (esp. on the inside of the rim where you'd assume they aren't as attentive) they then have to lather on the nasty **** to get it to hold air pressure. I'm sure they wouldn't want to go back and refinish the whole wheel all over again just for that.

UPDATE: I took the wheel to my local tire shop today with the intention of having them try the gasket sealer method. Upon breaking the bead seal, they discovered a small piece of loose rubber had worked it's way between the tire band and the rim. They're confident this was the source of the leak. After cleaning the area, they re-established the bead seal and aired it back up. We're 7 hours in so far and it's still holding 34psi, so it would appear they were right. Total cost: $0

Although my pocketbook liked the outcome, part of me is sad that I wasn't FORCED to buy some 18" Carrera III's or 19" Carrera Classics.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Great outcome and preservation of income. Hoping this was the only issue.

My right rear and right front both leak, rear more than front. Identical wheels as yours as you know. Difference is I know the cause.... me. Gotta not get so close to the curb when cutting corners. Anyone know of a good wheel repair shop in the Phoenix area?

I was going to suggest there might be some rubber lodged in there. You'd be surprised how much rubber and junk is on the bead seating area on a set of used wheels. Most tire shops are in-and-out; they don't have time to clean it like many of us would. Glad you got it worked out.

If you happen to change your mind , I'm selling my 19" Carrera Classic replicas with Hankook tires to go back to 18" on the 993. Fronts are like new, rears still have good tread. $1075 + shipping (good rates)
