Going to replace the tie rod assembly and the 19mm top nut on the tie rod is rusted stuck. When turning it, the whole threaded "pin" turns with the nut. I see no where to put a wrench on it and a vice doesn't seem to get a good enough hold on it.

Doug, use a small jack under it to put pressure on the unit.
The taper will then hold it in place enough to remove, or replace, the nut

Just be careful of shifting the car off of its other jackstands.

Some use a lever against the back pof the ball joint to push it into the taper and hold it so you can undo the nut...Are the end threads of the male thread in good condition ? If damaged, clean them up some with a file may help.

jacked up the ball joint and it worked. All is replaced.

Just in case someone searches this out and jacking it up at the joint does not work. Get a good "nut breaker/buster" Break the nut off and you will be home free. New ball joints come with new nuts.
