Considering the car's overall condition, I'm taken aback by the rust.

Try this link.

Man, that is a beautiful car in a beautiful color. Looks like it needs all its rubber refreshed, a small surface rust spot fixed and a buff to get out the scratches left by a car cover.

It doesn't look like Wine Red to me ... but it could be the photography. Edit: just saw the sticker which is ziegelrotmetallic = brick red metallic.

I'm also a bit stunned to see that rust spot, and the rust around the wheel well and on the spare. Maybe it was stored in a very humid environment ??

I see a lot of grime behind and around the intensive washer reservoir, and I would have expected to see pristine paint in that area considering the mileage.

The literal translation of Ziegelrot would be "brick red". The official translation is "kiln red".

This can happen when driven one night in bad weather.
It is clear that it just didnt get that good of a cleaning job.....

But I wonder why the fog light switch is discoloured, along with the air vent seals to the doors.

So, I love this car... very nice... Not even CLOSE to as nice as BLU82, but something was bothering me about the car and I couldn't put my finger on it... The miles just don't add up for the amount of scratches to the leather on the doors and the back seats (of all things!) and then I realized what it is...

That speedo was replaced! That is NOT the original one! The original was an 85 mph, normally the odo and speedo go in and out together... SO, maybe they only put 100 miles or maybe 1000 on the original so it may well be something close to a 5700 mile car, but it would take a lot of very careful (or maybe not if the odo was replaced at 20k miles!) searching of the records to figure this car out.

There is much dirt around that intensive wash reservoir...to much for a 5700 mile car FOR SURE!

It will certainly be interesting to see how this car goes! If it were a '78-'80 I would be REALLY interested and I'd look in to that info myself!

Colin, I have seen that discoloration before... It was on a car that had been left open to the elements for some time and then not dried out properly...

The carfax database contains no records for this vehicle, and according to the Brian Long book I purcahsed from Nicole, Brick Red, aka: Kiln Red did not show up until the 83 MY. 77Tony
