are all crossmembers the same across model years?
No. The cross-members changed when the motor mounts changed.
So there are 78-82 cross-members, and 1983-1995 cross-members.

what is the weight difference ?
They are virtually the same before and after processing. We remove a little metal here, we add a little metal there. Maybe they are ounces heavier owing to the 4 bolts and nuts.

Why not sell the newer mounts for the older cars and then up grade the motor mounts? This is the first thing I did to Erik's and my 78s. If you need some older cross members I have a couple three laying around.

I still think a 4 speed rear cross memeber would be a real winner. It is a regular pain to remove the suspension with the transmission.
